A classic, strong beer with a generous warming flavour. The taste is deliciously fruity and malty with a lingering bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from Total Wine in Roseville, CA. Pours amber with a foamy/frothy beige head. Aroma is light stone fruits over mild caramel. Near med body. Flavor is a wee bit toffee to start, but bitter, and some nice fruitiness is present. Pleasingly malty, but bitter in the finish. More floral would be interesting, but itโ€™s good as is.

Slightly hazy amber-tinted copper coloured body with a very thin tan head and a few bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of roasted malt, toffee, raisins, nuts, a touch of spice and some very mild hops. Medium-bodied; Acidic flavour at first with raisins & nuts most noticeable with a touch of herbal and floral hops near the end. Aftertaste shows some caramel and a light bit of malt - not much though. Overall, fairly bland and underwhelming, while some of the typical english ale flavours come out - but not in large ways. Not really worth buying, especially given the options of similar beers. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 15-April-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 21-April-2010.

Bottle, 4.7%. Subtle fruity hop aroma. Hazy copper colour. Big stable off-white head. The flavour is also subtly fruity, a bit of grass, perhaps.
