Amstel 1870 is a full malt beer, which means that only barley malt is used in the preparation. Fine aromatic hops are used to obtain the right degree of bitterness. The specific blend of barley malt ensures that the beer has a slightly darker color than the normal Amstel beer. Amstel 1870 beer takes its name from the year in which the Amstel Brewery was founded. The demand for Amstel 1870 has decreased, so as of May 2016 it was decided not to brew it anymore and is no longer available.

330 mml bottle tasted on 30/07/2014. Hoppy beer with a medium bitterness. Aftertaste has some yeast and grains. Next one please!

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein goldgelbes Bier mit durchschnittler Schaumkrone. Geruch malzig herb, grasig, getreidig. Geschmack herb, grasig, minimaler würziger Abgang.

Clear golden colour, nice white head. Aroma malty, hay, grassy hops, earthy notes. Flavour medium sweet and bitter, medium body, oily texture, normal carbo, smooth and clean bitter finish. A good pilsener for when nothing else is around.

Very similar to the normal pilsner from Amstel. Maybe the difference is noticable if you drink them after eachother.

30 cl. bottle @ home, gift from Hilde. Old yellow with a white head. malty hoppy aroma and taste. Good strong pilsener aftertaste. Lively carbonation. A good pilsener.

Bottle @ home. Slightly hazy darl yellow to golden colour with a big white head. Smells malts and grains, a tiny bit sweet and some barnyard. Tastes sweet for a pilsener, malty, grains and some nuts. Okay carbo, decent body.
