Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. light sumemr fruit and light grapefruit aroma. Summer fruit and orange flavor. Medium bodied. Orange and summer fruit/tropical fruit lingers.

Pours deep golden with small white head. Some thin small bubble lacing, light body, little carbonation, and hop aroma. Tatse is sweet malt and finish is floral hops.

light amber copper color, soft hops, mineral, oranges with a touch of caramel. Rounded, much fuller bodied than 5%, very pleasent.

Tap @ Three Lions Denver. Pours a dark copper appearance with a fluffy, cream colored head. Mild grapefruit citrusy, a touch spicy, earthy hoppy, toasty aroma. Lightly buttery, orange, grapefruit citrusy, light toffee, toasty flavor. Ok.

Ogi’s, of course. Orangey golden body witha medium sized slightly off white head. Slightly oily peach jam nose. Empty malty taste with a light herbal hopiness, the peachiness shows up again. Too dumbed down, unimpressive, and yet so much better than the last two English ales that we’ve had before this.

Before I talk about the Bengal Lancer I must state this is the first beer I’ve reviewed in my new ’Man Cave’. I’ve converted one of my garages into a bar: the first beer to launch it was ’La Chouffe’, a special Red Wine was also broached before this, my first ’Cave’ review. So, to my first of many new reviews. Brown 500ml bottle (bottle conditioned), best before 5 Oct 2012, drank and reviewed on 23 Jan 2011. The version I’ve reviewed is a 5.3% ABV one. Poured into my huge ’Judas’ stemmed tulip glass. A large white, foaming, bubbley head sat on top of a clear body, the colour of which was a bright pale amber, with a terracotta look to it. The aroma was of summer fruits, with a slight hoppy undertone, no malt smells at all. Tasted good, not overly hopped and the malt content didn’t appear too strong either. A pleasant mix of flavours with none overpowering anything else. Sweeter than most IPA’s and certainly not as hoppy as most, but very drinkable. Good carbonisation and well balanced, the alcohol hidden within the flavours. Pity the head died so quickly, otherwise a very good beer. Fuller’s rarely let you down, another fine beer from their stable.

Not particularly aromatic, but it’s a lovely-looking beer and it has a distinct taste without being overpowering and light enough to be able to enjoy a few.

(500mL bottle from the LCBO) Poured cool into a nonic pint, a pale amber with a decent white head that left lacing. Aroma was decently hoppy, smelled Old World with some lemon, pine, grass and a little bit of caramel malt. Flavour balanced between fairly sweet pale, biscuity malt with a hint of caramel and fairly zesty, lemony hops with moderate bitterness, finishes dry. Mouthfeel not thick but a little oily with soft carbonation. A quite English beer, not like American IPAs but fairly subtle, well-rounded and balanced, quaff-able.

Aroma - light aroma of pale sweet golden malts..hint of light caramel...slight bready notes...not a lot on the nose
Taste - golden pale malts...some biscuity malts...light sweet bit syrupy caramel..dash of honey...some light citrus hops....bit fruity....background of light bitter hops...well balanced...good subtle quite complex flavour...more sweet malty than hoppy
Palate - soft carb...medium body...light bitter sweet malt and citrus tangy on palate....oily texture...quite smooth. Finish - light citrus tang...sweet golden malts..some biscuit...bit of bitterness on the tail
Overall - Well balanced beer and easy drinking.....not that hoppy for an IPA but tastes good. Quite refreshing for a 5.3% beer.
