Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black in color with a finger's worth of khaki foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: big milk chocolate up front with the sweet to toasty notes of hazelnut; light vanilla and some sweet wafery product further underneath
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas together in a bold sweet and an underscore of roasty quality; mild finish of the vanilla, milk chocolate and sweet wafer
Texture: medium bodied, good sipper; some smoothness along the tongue but also some of the roastiness does a good job of preventing this beer from being at a lower level of smoothness
Overall: a very nicely done imperial hazelnut stout I would welcome again.
