Mit seinem unstillbaren Wissensdurst erhält unser Pils eine Auszeichnung nach der anderen. Bereits 1975 gab Helmar Schmid, zu jener Zeit Chef unserer Manufakturbrauerei, ihm daher den Namen Diplom Pils.
Mit insgesamt 56 internationalen und nationalen Auszeichnungen wurde diese ungewöhnliche Verleihung eines akademischen Grades bis heute mehr als gerechtfertigt. So wurde dieses besondere Pils im Jahre 2009 vom World Beer Award als World Best Pilsner zum Klassenbesten gekürt. Dank unserem konsequenten Anspruch nach Spitzenqualität folgte 2014 die Auszeichnung zum World’s Best German Pilsner und 2016 zum World’s Best German-Style Pale Lager.
Das Diplom Pils ist heute nicht nur das beliebteste Bier der Manufakturbrauerei Waldhaus – es ist ein echter Pils Klassiker.

pours clear pale yellow with a small white head and some lacing. fragrant sweet floral aroma, perfume. lots of aroma hops, not too much bitterness. quite complex taste for a pilsener. good carbonation. balanced finish. very nice.

Tap. Clear golden with small white head. Sweet grains, light toffee and a bit of sugar. Light dried apple. Medium spices. Taste is medium sweet with light bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not bad, but slightly too sweet for me.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines and drunk at home. Clear very pale gold thin white head. It’s got a little bit of lemon. Soft and decent enough. Yep, it’s clean easy drinking, could do with a bit more character, but got some decent bite on the spicy finish. fine, quite pleasant.

Waldhaus Diplom Pils, Flasche von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Hellgelb, glanzfein; kurzlebiger Schaum. - In der Nase milder, aromatisch zitroniger Hopfen und zartes helles Malz. - Antrunk schlank und milder gehopft als erwartet, mit matter Zitronenschale und ein klein wenig Gras. Blasse helle Malzsüße mit zarten Honignoten. Mild rezent, schlanker Körper; sehr weich und leicht mineralisch - sehr angenehmes Mundgefühl. Auch im Abgang nur milde Bittere, ein wenig Harz. Im Nachtrunk anhaltende, ein klein wenig schroffe Bittere. - Ansprechend aber arg mild gehopft: die auf dem Etikett angepriesenen „Naturdoldenhopfen“ ertastet die Zunge wie durch einen Schleier. Trotzdem ein vorzügliches Pilsener, bei dem jeder Schluck besser schmeckt als der vorige: hier ist das Ganze mehr als die Summe seiner Teile. Eine Flasche ist da keinesfalls genug ... (14.11.2014.) Neuverkostung mit einer ganz frischen Flasche: Statt arg mild würde ich jetzt sagen: zwar etwas blaß aber elegant und in gewisser Weise unverwechselbar gehopft; eins der wenigen Pilsener, die ich auch im Blindtest erkennen zu können hoffe. Aroma: pretty hoppy, citrus, bit herbal, metallic, malty, grains, hay, ab it floral, a hint of banana, fruity touch, apples, some marzipan. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet malts, bit of almonds, bitter hops, bit fruity, metallic touch, a hint of citrus. Aftertaste: a bit soapy, pretty metallic, bitter, some citrus, almonds, sweet touch, clean malts, grassy, a bit soapy.

Pale golden yellow colour. Clear liquid with white stable foam. Aroma of hops, apple and grass. Light body, thin texture, average carbonation. Slightly bitter finish. In the beginning, the beer was very smooth and untypically for a pilsener not bitter at all. But that changed with every swallow and it became bitter and tart. Quite disturbing and that ruined the good impression. I’ll give it another chance some day.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear straw yellow pour with a small frothy white head, zingy lemon aroma, taste has citrus along with malt action, grass, shredded wheat, a lot of cereal backed up with citrus action.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein klares goldenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch hopfig, getreidig, grasig. Geschmack hopfig, grasig, lang anhaltende Bitterkeit.

0.33 Litre bottle, well in date when opened in the South of France on 13th Sep 2013: I’d brought it over the Alps with me and few other beers to sip while in the sun. Pale straw colour with a head that dissipated as I poured the beer into a hotel owned tumbler. A white collar just sat there as I supped the beer. Dry, grainy and hoppy: a standard and well make German Pilsner with the typical clean and crisp taste you’d expect. Nothing cleaver or different, just a good refreshing beer and ideal in warm weather. Gets my usual score of three for a non-smelling lager/pilsner and loses points for the no show of the head.

Draught BBF2013. Clean gold with a firm white head. Aroma is a little bread. Flavour is floral, fruity bread and a little citrus wet finish.
