Phi is a pale strong beer, skillfully balanced between sweet and sour due to the addition of 40% of wheat to the grain bill. Phi is part of the “Omega – Phi – Sigma” trilogy which matures in stainless steel tanks where the Morpheus yeast imparts a refreshing sourness. Phi is a good stepping stone for those who want to familiarize themselves with our Flemish Sour Ales.

33 cl bottle (10%) @ Nuetnigenough. Aroma is interesting with orange marmalade, nettles and some bush leaves. Flavour is relatively tart with lemon juice, oranges, some milky notes and some earthiness. Very aggressive, lemon juice is dominant here.

On tap at Haandbryggeriet Beer Festival. Clear deep golden to amber, with a white head. Aroma of sour berries with mild malty notes and some hints of fruits. Medium sweet with pleasant fruity flavours, a certain acidity smd a fairly mild bitterness. Sour and refreshing!

Bottle from Tanakaya. Poured into a snifter. Hazy golden orange pour with a huge head that dissipates rather quickly but leaves a thin bit throughout. Aromas of caramel apple, green apple, pear, hay and barnyard. Starts out fairly sour on the palate then becomes a bit milder...almost sweet. Quite fruit forward but the sourness is there. Very enjoyable. Dry finish.

Bottle. Clear orange with fizzy white head that doesn’t last more than 10 seconds, pours like a soft drink. Musty grains, rye bread, oranges, pineapple, cellar dust, plums, lots of champagne, leaves, some grapes, toast. Nice fruity tartness with dry and light bitter finish. Some sweetness throughout. Medium bodied with almost no carbonation. Intieresting stuff, it has some similarities to plum wine or dry champagne. Could use some longer lasting carbonation though.

Orangish color with a high carbonation, be careful when opened, white head with short duration. Aroma has notes of yeast, light caramel, ripe apples and tarty notes. Flavor is slightly sweet at the beginning, afterwards some acidic notes, yeast, good maltiness and some caramel. Slightly bittery final with medium duration.

Bottle. Beermoth, Manchester. Hazy, reddy amber. Minimal head. Sour cherry. Barely ripe raspberry. Bready, and yeasty. Some strawberry. Some pear. Smells lovely. Taste is dry, tart, acetic, and light bitter. Fresh, clean palate. No way does this feel 10%. Finishes soft, fruity, lightly acidic, clean, palate cleansing bitter. Stupidly easy drinking at this ABV.

Mild gusher but no surprise there! Murky amber beer with a cream colour head. Palate is airy, semi dry and crisp. Mild to medium sourness with a nice fruity tang. Mellow orange and light lemon. Light airy finish. Approachable and drinkable.

33 cl bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a small off white head. Aroma is butterish and toasted malty. Toasted mqlty, caramelish and slight fruity. Mild butterish. Bitter and slight herbal dry finish.
