Maxlrainer LEO WEISSE is the appellation distinguishing our classic pale wheat beer. This is the ultimate in fruity wheat beer taste and has continued to qualify for the DLG GOLD Award year in, year out.

LEO WEISSE with its full round taste and own inimitable character reigns supreme in Bavarian wheat beer realms, the real secret behind it lying in the brewery’s distinct method of producing top-fermented yeast. Even as the beer is being drawn, the gourmet senses the wonderful aroma it develops. Left to mature in the storage cellars, LEO WEISSE is bottled in its cloudy, unfiltered state, thus keeping the malt and yeast constituents fine and nourishing.

(bottle) Cloudy, golden colour with a huge and firm slightly off-white foamy head. Sourish and sweet wheaty aroma with notes of citrus and ripe bananas. Harsh bitter and spicy flavour, slim bodied with a flat carbonation. Yeasty and wheaty taste with restrained fruity notes, because everything else is covered by strong spicy phenols. Smells good but the rest is pretty unharmonic ྐྵ.VIII.09).

Bottled (from beerangel.de) Hazy golden orange colour with mediumsized fluffy white head. Aroma is banana, wheat, spices, some lemon and yeast. Flavour is quite much the same with the yeast kicking in in the finish and spices giving a nice "start". Quite "thick" palate.

Bottled (Beerangel, BB 05/2009). Hazy yellow-orange color, huge cloudy off-white head. Strong yeasty banana nose. Good robust body. Banana flavor, but also hoppy note with backing alcohol. Solid hefeweizen with a good character and malt profile.

Bottled(500ml). -Hazy dark peach coloured, medium to big white head, fresh wheaty nose. Wheaty, fruity (mostly banana) and spicy with notes of clove. Maybe just a bit watery palate but overall very nice and refreshing weizen.
