Bottle. Golden body with a frothy, white head rapidly diminishing. Aroma of clove, banana, spice, cotton candy, toasted grain, light earthiness, herbs. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Banana-clove taste with a sweet candy finish. Light tartness. Too sweet and too much banana for my tastes.

500ml bottle - lightly hazy gold - fairly lively - nose is moderate tropical esters, light muskiness, light peppery phenolics and minerals - flavor is a bit sweet, lacking the same yeast expression that the aroma suggests - tropical notes compliment the sweetness okay, I guess - slight tartness balances as bit - as it warms, there is a nicely complex phenolic profile that develops on the tail end, but overall it’s still a little too sweet, and a little limp in the mouth - a decent attempt - I would try a later batch to see if they improved their approach.

On Tap at the Bend BP Clear golden with a slight wispy skin and lacing of off-white. Lovely sweet belgian malty aroma. Quite sweet fruity Belgian flavors, and rather slick and heavy. Expected a bit ore light and spritsy. Under attenuated maybe. Very nice flavors, Ripe light fruits and a little cereal grainiess. Soft carbonation.

Full, pillowy head on this one, hazy golden body with very active column of carbonation in the center of the glass. Aroma of honey and sweet malt, some sourdough. Taste is tangy, leaves the tongue tingling. Slippery mouth feel, sweet finish.

Hazy golden coloured body with a rich, four centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of grass, hay, yeast, pepper, lemons, light spices and more grass - very nice and herbal. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence with a strong grassy and dry flavour of yeast and herbs noticeable right away. Aftertaste shows a subtle sweetness of fruit, some subdued pepper and spice, but more grassy and herbal notes with a little bit of hop bitterness on the finish. Overall, a very nice and well worked saison with a refined complexity throughout. I sampled this on a rainy day on the East Coast, but I could imagine this on any day (which is always rainy) back in Portland. I’m glad I brought this one back home with me - a good option for sure. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 27-September-2013 for US$8.31 sampled at home in Washington on 29-March-2014.
