Cloudy orange brew - a thin ring of soapy lace - a nice mix of chinook and cascade in the nose, mixing with a balancing malt sweetness, creating complex notes of citrus - medium to low carbonation - fairly potent bitterness, with quite a bit of floral, grassy hops - nicely balanced by moderate malt sweetness - nothing original, nothing exceptional, just a very well-executed ipa.

12 oz bottle (labeled as Compass IPA), purchased at the liquor store next to the Safeway in Fountain, Colorado. This appeared to be best beer available at the shop, so I gave it a try. Pour is mostly clear copper orange with nice settling and a 1 1/2 inch white head. Nice splotchy lacing as the beer falls. Aroma of dank citrus and pine hops initially, quickly followed by nice toasted biscuit maltiness behind that. Nice balanced and fresh nose. Taste is fresh, dank, citrus orange, bright pine hoppiness balanced with the toasted biscuit malt. Nice balance between the sweet and the bitter. Palate is medium thin, medium carbonation - really drinkable.

Draft at brewery. On nitro. One thing nitro does to a nice, hoppy IPA is to smooth out that raspy finish. At first sip, I wished that this was on CO2 instead. But by the end, it was going down smoothly and I somewhat appreciated that. Long-lasting, off-white head. Bubbly medium amber body. The aroma was full of flowers, grapefruit, apricot, citrus with some notes of caramel and hints of apricot and peach. The flavor is moderately sweet and moderately bitter. The finish is moderately bitter, but only lightly sweet. Medium body with a smooth as silk texture from the nitro. Hopped up carbonation, or is it nitration?
