Bottle. Brown with a pale beige head that fades to a coat then lasts OK. Aroma of dough, carob, intriguing spices - mace, anise and what is presumably lady’s mantle (according to the bottle). Less full-bodied than the aroma suggests, sweet, a bit nutty, carob, dries out towards an end that has little bitterness. Aniseed becomes quite prominent after a while. Interesting beer, would go a treat with terrine.

Pours dark brown with a fading off-white head.Nose shows toasty malt, some sweet brown sugar, bready malt and nutty character. Enticing.Similar flavours, nutty and bready malt with the Belgian dubbel-like brown sugar note in there too.Carbonation seems a little high.Would be a really good brown ale if not for the brown sugar character.

Bottled. A red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and a bit of spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, dusty hops, caramel, and over ripe fruits, leading to a dry alcoholic finish.
