“The postmodern, then, is a repetition of the modern as the “new,” and this means the ever-new demand for another repetition.” - Jean-Francois Lyotard

Even before the W was lost, we wanted the Brewery to recognize our City's most iconic landmark. The French visionary artist-painter Lucas Beaufort, we knew would be a perfect fit for this project. Lucas and his mischievous characters bring a sense of play and light to the world. Something we felt the W and the surrounding Pier Park was to all of us on a bright Summer day. His characters have appeared in murals throughout the world and taken over iconic urban landscapes, we are pleased that one of his characters could finally play in our City too.

Postmodern is a pseudo-North American style 'Light' Lager. It's pale, thin, easily consumed. Like Bella, it pairs well with that big IPA you couldn't resist, because it's not just an enjoyable cheap lager, it's an enjoyable cheap lager that's been dry-hopped. In typical ABC fashion, it demands to be changed, renewed and repeated with an ever-sustained focus on the modern. This version of Postmodern features Motueka hops.

Excellent foam on a pale straw body, strong carbonation, very pretty. Soft hops on the nose, slight grain notes. Flavour is deep chewy grain, vague hoppiness. Full with crisp carbonation. A bit chewier than I expected but still very nice.
