Bottle - Funky, acidic and bready. Gloudy yellow with a decent white head. Quick acidity and a creamy funky finish. Interesting and not really worth the crazy price.

A 2015 bottle on the Ale Apothecary beers tasting at Firefly on Cambie. Bottled 06-Jun-2015. Tasted with Brian. Pours a clear pale golden with a white head. Aroma is funky, earthy, kind of exhausted gas (which disappers after several minutes), lemony. Taste is sour, earthy, lemony, fermented veggies notes (sauerkraut). Refreshing, good stuff.

Hefig säuerlicher Antrunk, dessen Aromen sich zum Mittelteil deutlich steigern. Fruchtige, wenig süße Noten. Steigend fruchtig, harmonisch. Rundes, leicht alkoholisches Bier. 12/12/12/12/10/12

Bottle shared by Scott. Pours cloudy dark golden color with white head. Funky aroma with some oak and lemon. Funky tart flavor with some tropical citrus, sour lemon, grass, earthiness and oak. Medium body with lively carbonation. Very nice.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy dull golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out loads of funkiness, some white wine, and some faint peaches. Flavour brings loads of peaches, white wine, funkiness, a champagne spritziness, and some dry white grape skins. Extremely complex, finishing champagne-like and a bit fruity. Remarkable depth to this, with all elements in perfect harmony. A wild ale of wonderful elegance.

750 ml bottle. I busted one bottle, so I bought another! Worth it. Pours a very hazy orange/straw color with a large, slightly over-carbonated white head. A nose of straw, citrus, some yeast. This is a wonderful beer: hay, straw earthy grains, robust lemon and citrus bitterness, light lactic sourness, fluffy palate. The overall drinkability is very high. The palate and the soft sourness make this just wonderful. Like a Berliner Weiss.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours hazy lemon with a creamy, fizzy white head. Aroma is sort of citrusy berlinner weiss. Near med body. Flavor is more funky than citrus. Moderately sour. Oak is apparent with time. Tasty ale.

Alright, the second time I’ve had a beer from this genius out in the woods of Oregon. Seriously, a lifestyle I’m envious of regardless of the beer quality. Paid $28 for this in Vermont at Winooski Bev Warehouse. Having had the last beer from him in Portland, it’s nice to enjoy this slowly at home (and split 2 ways). Enjoyed at 50F in a wine goblet (HFS Glass)

A - I would call this a mix between gold and orange. The second glass had some dregs so that one is a bit more cloudy but the first pour was crystal clear and looks like chardonnay. A 2 finger head fades to a thin line pretty fast.

S - The nose is loaded with grape skin and a mild cantaloupe. Sweet and a hint of barnyard funk. Not as complex as the Sahti but certainly a sweet microflora esque nose that isn’t too tart or too sweet. It’s very similar to HFS Art in the nose but a lot less lactobacillus and oak.

T - It’s hard not to talk about taste and not talk about the mouthfeel first. Okay, well back to taste. Loads of sweet pinot grapes, sweet muscadine and juicy pears. Lactobacillus and Brett Trois and tannic tastes as well. It’s dry but not insanely dry. The finish is grassy with just a touch of tart.

M - Loving bottle conditioned bursting carbonation mouthfeel. Loaded with dry and peach acidity.

O - I loved Sahati. I like La Tache. It lacks that complexity but is still very good. If this was $10 cheaper, I’d drink it often. Needs a bit more tartness and it feels high abv for 6%. Certainly a beer to be shared.
