Roasted chestnuts are one of the healthier Hong Kong snacks, a street food speciality, it is usually available in the "cold" winter months. Unusually, hawkers collaborate with brewers to slow roast the chestnuts in hot cinders inside a large wok, peel them and throw them into boiling wort for an exciting concoction!

On tap at Kowloon Taproom. Pours dark brown. Nuts, coffee, little astringent red fruit stuff, smoke to the point of a slight ash flavour. Hard to say no to after walking past so many chestnut carts and it really delivers. Might have to try the actual chestnuts now...
