Bottle. Pink wax. That’s this one. Can’t recall how I got the set. Possibly Hoptimism? Opens with a fair hiss. Nose has burnt gravy. Liz Smith. Bourbon and sweet rum. Boozy cake. Woody vanilla. Unwashed coffee bean. Taste is a little sweet, with a boozy burnt bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Carbonation is a bit too prickly. Lingering burnt bitterness to finish.

650ml bottle. Sweetish, heavy with coffee notes, some roastiness, espresso and mocha, hints of bourbon and rum. Quite dry and heavy with coffee notes.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Cloin! Pours deep brown with a frothy tan head. So so, holds notes of earth, lightly tangy berries, ashy roast. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Further sturdy ashy character in the finish. OK overall.

Bottle split at L6, tastings ! Remember them ?, picked up online, 22/08/19. Black with a decent tan head. Nose is rich dark fruit shreds, mellow whisky barrel, spice, dark toffee. Taste comprises dark chocolate, fruit cake, brown sugars, more pronounced barrel tones, light spice. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a lick of booze. Decent well balanced Impy.

500ml bottle at home. Pours inky thick black with a decent brown head. Nose is trifle, Christmas cake, dark chocolate and black coffee. Loads of complexity and layers. The barrel aging adds a slight bit of softness and buttery notes to the bitter coffee character. Really dialed in with this one
