Bottle shared at home thanks Maakun. Clear brown with white head. Sweet malts, dried fruits, sweet but not very smoked. Do taste some beechwoodlike woody and resinyness. Pleasant drinking nonetheless. Quite sweet and moderate bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. --- Beer merged from original tick of Bock on 18 Apr 2019 at 23:43 - Score: 7. Bottle shared. Slight hazy reddish brown with small beige head. Soft smoke, caramel, apple, light earthy, toffee, aniseed, allspice, berry candy, pear drops. Over medium sweet, under medium bitter. Solid medium bodied. Some weird notes, but overall pretty decent.

Bottle. Dark amber pour. Aroma of sweet ripe fruit, anise, raisin, caramel and malt. Taste has spicey anise, subtle smoke, ripe fruit, caramel, malt and mild booze. Quite a nice bock.

Met speels gemak de beste Grutte Pier. Idd beetje rook en zo. Nog steeds niet om over naar huis te schrijven, maar 3.5 voor aanmoediging.

[As: Grutte Pier Hout gerookte dubbel bock] Sampled from bottle @ tasting. Darm amber color, average sized white head. Smell and taste malts, sweetish, not very smoky at all, malty bitter in the finish. Meh, not very nice imo.

33cl Bottle from Mitra Beukenweg. Almost clear deep amber colour, beige head. Aroma of star anise, spicy yeast, cinnamon, amber malts, reminds me of St.Feuillien or La Gauloise beers, very spicy and sweet. Flavour is very spicy and sweet as well, less ‘funky’ but more sweet, amber malts, star anise, almost no smoke detected. Cloying and over-spiced. Not very good.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Hazy copper color, short frothy head. Aroma of quite some wood notes, spicy as well as in spicy wood, licorice root, some toffee. Spicy in taste as well, its like wet wood or something with a licorice like touch. Interesting at first, but in time the spicyness completely takes over. A bit too much actually.

Bottle @ home. Dark amber to brown colour with a small off-white head. Smells smokey, wood, sweet, malty, spices. Tastes smokey, peat, sweet, loads of spices and quite a bit of tea (lapsang perhaps). I like smokyness, I like a bit of peatyness, but the combination kills it a bit for me. Medium body, soft carbo.
