Pours dark mahogany coloured with a small, beige head. Mild roasty and caramelly aroma with hints of coffee, dried fruits and herbal hops. Medium sweet with medium flavour intensity and a balanced bitterness. A bit on the thin side, but pleasant and enjoyable still.

Smell- weak, malty, bit acidic, faint caramel. Foam- thin, bit to medium, malty, some roast, some caramel, bit acidic, interesting. Head is medium-sized, medium-dark brown color. Appearance- generic black bottle cap, simple bottle. Color is black, no visible carbonation. From- snifter Taste - malty, sweet, bit acidic, some caramel, some roast acidic in the aftertaste. Actually, very neutral and likable, not bad. Feels that with bit more density and intensity it may become one really nice beer.

Tap at Miezis & Ko, Riga So I go for a few days to Latvia hoping drink beers from some of their 65 odd breweries. And what do I find in the first bar I visit ? A beer from a completely new brewery I never knew existed ! Anyway, caramel, liquorice and coconut in the nice complex nose. Pours a very very dark brown, almost black, with minimal head. Sweetness in the mouth, but not overpoweringly so. Lots of dark fruits, roast malts and chocolate there as well. Very drinkable for its strength but the alcoholic haze does come through in the finish to leave a warming glow. A very promising debut – will certainly drink this again, if I ever see it.
