500ml bottle @ Kitty’s, Helsinki

Pours pitch black with a foamy white head. Aroma of roasty malts, fruity hops and grainy notes. Taste is slightly roasty with some fruity hops, licorice and chocolate. Finish is hoppy and mildly roasty with some fruity notes and hints of licorice. Nice, quite tasty black IPA.

[500ml bottle at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe] Black with a large beige head and a light fizz. VERY hop-led, with loads of pine and some lime. A light hint of coffee is the only hint of the malts here. Hefty bitterness. Possibly rather unbalanced if truth be told, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Bottle from Corks of Cotham, Bristol. Dark brown in colour, with a tight, off-white head and moderate carbonation. Aroma of pine, berry fruits, fruit cake and orange peel with plenty of grassy hop. Flavour had tropical fruit, some slightly bready, sweet malts, more pine and a lingering dryish finish. excellent.

Cask at the Euston Tap - 19/09/12. Very dark brown in appearance with a decent frothy tan head. Excellent lacing follows. Lightly roaste malt on the nose, biscuit, dark sugar, fruit and pine. Hops in the taste, pine kernels, licqourice, bitter grapefruit and a little chocolate undertone. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation lending to a dry finish. Decent black IPA.

On cask @ Craft Beer Co. London. Deep dark ruby in color, and it has a small quickly islandiny bubbly beige head. Low on the aroma at first, but some mild roastiness and chocolate arises here. Not much more actually. Perhaps a bit one dimentional, but still quite pleasant. Lot's more in the taste! Good strong bitterness, soft roasted touch that's lingering for a long long time in the mouth. Some chocolate paper as well. Easy drinking and really tasty! 21.07.2012

Cask at CBC, London. Pours clear, red-brown with a creamy, tan head. Nose holds lots of sweet grapefruit and restrained roast. Medium to big sweet flavor with lots of grapefruit, pineapple, orange and mango, blended with a sturdy roasted malt character, pine and darkened grass. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Sticky, resinous finish with dark toast and grass, more grapefruit, burnt pine and dark citrus. Just an overall super black IPA. Excellent.
