Opaque black - brown beer with a tidy pale tan head. Dry palate. Dry dark malt, slightly bitter. Brief hit of orange citrus before bitter pine takes over. Dry finish. Okay if a bit dry. There are much better Black IPAs around.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Kittys, 20130103) The beer poured almost black. Its head was small and white. Aroma had sweetness, hops and roasted malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were hops, roasted malts, burnt malts, sweet liquorice and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A light black IPA with too burnt flavour. Still easy to drink. Old rating: 7-3-6-3-13.

(Re-rate, cask at Gallows Bird Real Ale Festival ’13) Updates to the previous rating. Aroma had roasted malts, spiciness and hops. Taste had strongly hops, mildly roasted malts and some sweetness. Way better than the bottled one.

Sample from a bottle @ Bishops Arms Järntorget. Pours dark brownish black with a frothy gray head that leaves lots of trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is fruity, herbal and very hoppy fresh with peaches, roasted malts, passionfruit, gooseberries, pineapple, ammonium chloride, dark roast coffee, lychee, grapefruit juice and burnt cookies. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter and fruity with pineapple, peaches, pine, resinous wood, gooseberries, lychee, grapefruit juice, black currants, roasted malts, dark roast coffee and hints of salty liquorice. Mouthfeel is round, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is bitter and fruity with roasted malts, tropical fruits, burnt cookies, pine, resin and salty liquorice. Very nice!
