Keg at the Euston tap, aroma is choc and berries, nepoletan ice cream. Flavour is jam packed choc, light mellow roast, JAM, orangey piney hop. A little delicate spice in the finish. Carbonation is high, tingley on the tongue. Roasty lemony finish. Very nice drop.

Bottle from Cornelius. Dense black body with a thick off-white head that holds well. Excellent lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, pineapple, oranges and a hint of chocolate - such a bright, fruity aroma for a Black IPA. Delicious tropical fruit flavour with a big hoppy hit. Medium body with an oily texture. A stunning Black IPA that leans more towards an IPA than a Porter.

Keg at The Lyric, London on 15 June. Dark, almost black pour. Burnt and bitter aroma; earthy with hints of coffee. Bitter taste followed by some subtle balanced sweetness.

200ml from tap at Mikkeller & Friends, shared with Skinnyviking. Coal black body, tiny layer, fragile lacing. Dark fruity aroma joined by roasted malts. Dark leafs to the taste buds mingled with roasted malts, including a touch of coffee. Malt bitter ending. Easy to drink and easy to enjoy (Copenhagen, 22.05.2013).

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a fairly large foamy tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, a light-to-medium piney hop accent and some bready notes. Flavour is very dry, with dry bready toasted malts, piney hops, and a little wood. No where near as flavourful as the Imperial Black IPA -- this tastes like a baby version. Well-balanced with a very dry palate. Good stuff, but leaves something to be desired.

Bottled. Black colour with a beige head with good duration. Aroma is roasty, light caramel and coffee. Flavor is medium to strong bittery, with chocolate, resins and coffee notes. The final is strong bittery with a good duration and a medium astringency on palate.

50 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Konttori, BBE 11/2013
Aroma has vanilla. coffee and raspberries - very typical to black ipa. Flavour is odd with resiny hops, coffee, some chocolate and nettles. Finishes with vichy and cardboard. Perhaps a bit past its prime.

Bottle from Birratrovo, Como, bb Nov 2013
Black color with medium sized beige creamy head. The aroma is mild, but with some nice hops. The mouthfeel is quite smooth, the roasted malt flavor is mild, and there is a milky touch; correct bitterness, with some hop resins in the background; dry final.
Overall, a good balanced beer.
