Initially Dark Deeds Conductor's Special Reserve Porter.

This beer is dedicated to the railway conductors of yesteryear. Full uniform with vest and tie, golden belt buckle, kepi hat on top, and a gold watch and chain used to make sure everything was on schedule. However, what you don't know is this gruff, serious fellow after collecting tickets or ticking off boxcars, would hunker down in the red caboose at the end of the train, hang up his cap, and subsist off a solid diet of whiskey or beer, chocolate, cigars, and sweet, sweet coffee for the duration of the trip whether it be two hours or two days. Brewed with chocolate and smoked malts and then layered with coffee, lactose, and vanilla, our Conductor's Special Reserve will make you want to find your own space to hunker down, sit back, and watch the world go by.

Style: Smokey Baltic Porter

Can. Very dark brown. Dark choc aroma with almost golden syrup. Sweet, but with coffee and dry choc tempering it. The smokiness could have been quintupled. I wanted more of that.

From a 440ml can on 6/6/2020. Pours a deep brown with a medium head which disappears quite quickly. The nose features quite a bit of chocolate and caramel. The taste is very dessertish - more chocolate and caramel, some vanilla, with a touch of coffee, finished by a relatively mild roasty bitterness which just a hint of smoke at the back. The mouthfeel is slightly creamy, the carbonation softish. Not as smokey as I was expecting but a very pleasant big, sweet porter none the less.
