This was the first beer we ever brewed back in 2000. We are as proud of it today as we were then.

Brewed with all gold ingredients - Golden Promise Pale Malt, Golden naked oats, First Gold Hops, with a Willamette hop finish. Fresh, clean flavour with a hint of grapefruit citrus from the Willamette.

Cask ale, half-pint, shared with Finn at Harp. Bubbly white head, mist golden body, spotty lacing. Moderate grassy nose with a citric scent. Quite tasty with moments of lemon, grassy hops, and cereal malts. Drying close with satisfying bitterness. Satisfying. (London, 29.09.2023).

Cask at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours pale gold with minimal white head, but good lacing. There’s malt and some generic citrus in the aroma here. Mouth feel is basically sweet and juicy. Not that much flavour though. There’s oranges, hints of mango and some underlying biscuity base. Later on traditional hops start to appear, leading to a dry finish. This is OK, but I would have expected something more exciting from Wylam.

Cask (literally from the cellar) at Cobbett's, Dorking. Aroma is malty - grains and glue, overly sweet. Clear copper gold. Frothy blotchy white head. Medium bitter. Grainy. Sour citrus edge. Light bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Punchy enough but still a boring Gold at heart.
