Perinteinen Brittiläinen portteri on yksi vanhoja, vielä tuotannossa olevia oluttyyppejä. Tyyli pohjautuu Lontoossa 1700-luvulla kehitettyyn tummaan olueen, jota kutsuttiin nimellä "entire butt".

Olut on väriltään tummahkon mahonkinen. Tuoksu on paahtuneen kahvimainen ja pirteän aromaattinen. Maku on kuivahko, paahtunut, kahvimainen ja hiukan hedelmäinen.

Tap @ Black Door. Near black, thick off white head. Slightly soury aroma, very roasty, hoppy stuff. Flavor has roastedness, strong coffee, malt, hops. Really like the hoppyness in this one. Medium bodied. Not sure what the soury notes was about, disappeared later on, but was evident in the beginning.

Draught @ Black Door
Aroma has fruity hops, some bready malt and hints of hay. Palate is low on CO2. Flavour has fruity hops, some ash, grapefruit and hints of vegetables. Feels watery. Aroma was promising but flavour isn’t that great.

(Keg at Black Door, 20140906) The beer poured almost black. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had burnt malts, fruitiness and dark bread. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, sweetness, fruitiness, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste had coffee, burnt malts and bitterness. A really nice mild porter.

Draught. Dark ruby red colour, small brown head. Aroma is of roasted malt, bitter hops and fruits. Flavour is sweet plum mixed with hops and roasted malts. Very sweet for a porter. Also black coffee in the flavour. It felt a bit empty, in my opinion it could do with more roast. Not a crappy brew though.

Draught
Dark ruby color, good creamy and thick tan head. Nose is English flowery hoppy, a bit sticky. Cold coffee in the roasted flavor, hops appear in the aftertaste. Nice basic porter - session like lighter version of some Stadin’s heavier stuff.
