“This is a full-bodied American style double IPA brewed with five styles of malts and four different hops. This deep copper colored ale will be served unfiltered to maximize flavor and also dry hopped during the secondary fermentation to ensure a gracious hop aroma. Cheers from us to you and may you enjoy it with friends.

Crisp, slightly hazy copper coloured body with a bronze glow and a two centimetre tall slightly tan head. Aroma of pale malt, light earthy hops, some light sugars and a dose of alcohol and pine. Full-bodied; Strong earthy malt coupled with some grapefruity, cleanser and resinous hop notes with tons of bitterness from the hops. Aftertaste is lacking in complexity and depth with pretty much only the strong malt, bitterness from the hops and metal/alcohol notes coming through. Overall, not the worst Imperial IPA i’ve had, but not great. The bitterness is nice if you like it (I do) since it’s super strong, but the rest of the beer is lacking. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Wegman’s in Sterling, Virginia on 03-May-2013 for US$1.67 sampled at home in Washington on 27-June-2013.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 8/21/12

Aroma: The nose is a fairly standard combination of caramel malts and resin and citrus hops
Appearance: It pours an unclear caramel color with a smallish white head and average lacing
Flavor: Tastes fairly balanced with sweet caramel dominating up-front, and a later mid-plus hop bitterness
Palate: The feel of this one is fairly sticky and a bit syrupy, with a medium body, light heat, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: This one is a decent beer, thought it feels a bit muddled. It also feels more like a hoppy Barley Wine then a DIPA to me. Still though, it has some good components and some parts that work pretty well. Middle-of-the-road overall for me.

22 ounce bottle. Copper colored with a bubbly beige head. Toasted malt nose hints at cinnamon and resiny hops. Sweet malt flavor balanced by a tangy, peppery hop character. Lots of flavors here; bitter lemon, black pepper and bittersweet chocolate. Full bodied with a chewy sticky mouthfeel. A long bitter hop finish.

Bomber from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville, Pours a slighty hazy amber color with a thin white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of citrus, resin and tropical hops with a faint tinny note. The taste is candied citrus, tropical notes, cotton candy, a chemical note and a bitter finish. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness, low carbonation. Weird and disjointed.
