Very popular product in southern Germany, it originated in the Bavarian region. This product was originally produced as a unique privilege of the Bavarian nobility. It was said to be so delicious that it could provoke an uncontrollable desire to drink it and that was one of the reasons why its production was restricted. Its name describes its essence, Hefe (yeast) Weizen (Wheat).
