A big rye stout with notes of vanilla, coffee and dark malts.

Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish roasted, weeds, burnt toast, roasted grain, dark sugar, salty licorice, alcohol, minerals, dark malts, sour coffee, cocoa, fruit stones, grass, sour dark berries. Taste is dry sour-ish boozy, weeds, burnt coffee, burnt toast, roasted grain, soil, alcohol, minerals, bark, paper, sour grass, fruit stones, sour dark berries, harsh licorice. Medium to longlasting bitterness, boozy and sour-ish roasted mouthfeel. Boring.

The priest is back. Unfortunately I missed the Judas Priest concert. But I got this one. Solid stuff and quite easy drinkable. Not that pastry body. Pleasant carbonation level. Maybe a bit to sweet. Toffee, roast, coffee and licorice.

Can. A pitch black beer with a small dark beige head. Lots of aroma, licorice, molasses, burnt and roasted malts, hints of charcoal and some burnt down bonfire. Toast notes. It's perhaps a bit thin on the palate, still full bodied, with a soft carbonation and some alcohol warmth. Molasses, licorice, roasted malts, coffee grit hints and some toast in the flavor. Roasted malts kind of bitterness too. Lasting finish. Seems it will do better with a little cellaring as it is bit edgy, and I'd like some more body, but it's a fine brew anyway. 180517
