Forholdsvis pålitelige notater fra årets maritime juleølsmaking ombord på Fridtjofen: bosk tilveiebrakt av vår pålitelige agent i Fyllingsdalen. Klar, mørkerød kobber med fint skum som varer. Mørke karameller, røde bær, svisker , hint av vanlje og krydder. Slank og lettdrikkelig men skuffende forglemmelig.

Nice fizzy-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet mineraly, sap, caramel malts, weeds, cereal, hay, minerals, "knekk", roasted grain, toast, sawdust, raisins, bark. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish grainy, weeds, wet hay, minerals, bark, sap, toast, sour-ish roasted grain, cereal, "knekk", raisins, fruit stones, paper, old leafs, alcohol. Medium bitterness, harsh roasted mouthfeel. Fair enough.

200ml, 2017 version, 6.8 % abv, draught at Habitat. Hazy dark brown body, low,fawn-coloured, bubbly head, spotty lacing. Smell of dark and dried fruits. Pronounced flavours of prunes joined by caramel malts and pine. Malt-fruity, mid-bitter tail. Smooth mouth feel. Fine bodied. Fits the season. Good drinking. (Trondheim 31.10.2017).

Tested 28 Jan 2016 Fine strong ale or old ale. Fairly flat, lots of barrel aging notes, and really good as a winter warmer. Great craftmanship.

Tested 1 Jan 2024.
