Bottle at Ølbaren. Pours orange. Aroma is extremely smoky. Taste is very sweet malty with a distinct smoke note. This lasts into the rather dry finish.

Draught at the Pianeta Birra, Rimini, Italy.
German beer No. 200
Pours a nice dark golden coloured with small firm white head and mild smoked bacon nose. Malty and smoked taste with notes of wood and also smoked bacon. This was my second rauchbier, so in comparison with heavy Schlenkerla it’s quite gently.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours an almost clear amber golden with a creamy, off-white head. Distinct aroma of smoke - the fat baconish smoke. Medium body, lightly sweet notes of caramel malt but otherwise completely dominated by the smoked malts. A dry and hoppy finish. 081106

Bügelverschlußflasche: Hazy, deep golden coloured, quite firm and stable white head; stronger aroma of charcoal and smoked salmon with a sweetish-caramelly background; sweetish and light bitter flavour, medium bodied; sweetish-malty finish with a delicate bitterness and the taste of smoked wood. A pleasant, well balanced Rauchbier............

(swing top bottle, bought at the brewery tap) Clear, light amber colour with a short creamy off-white head. Moderately sweet malty aroma with a touch of honey and a strong blend of smoked ham. Medium sweet flavour, light to medium body, smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Rich malty, smoky taste; medium dry, malty and lasting finish with light bitter units and a tasty smoked aftertaste. Pale and joyful smoked beer for everyday, pleasant to drink.

Bottle at Battersea Beer Festival 2006. Copper/golden colour with thin white head. Smokey aroma, over carbonated in mouth, not a lot of body. Bit tinny, bit like a lager. Smoke aroma is good but the rest doesn’t live up to it. Shame

Am Anfang schmeckt es kurz wässrig, dann leicht herb und dann halt wie flüssiger Schinken...im Nachgeschmack verstärkt sich das Aroma noch.

Orange-gold, clean, lightest Rauch I’ve ever seen; with very fine-bubbled, stable off-white head. Imperial smoked ham. Unbelievable - doesn’t yield anything to Schlenkerla in the nose, extremely clean at the same time. Malty and smoked taste, pure beechwood smoke, like an open campfire, or the new potatoes out of its smoldering ashes - and a bit of Schinken, selbstverständlich . Great! Rather light bodied. Aftertaste gives a mineral combination of bitter and salt, before yielding sweetness, dessert-wine like! Very original Rauchbier, paler and lighter than any sofar. But the taste doesn’t bow to any.
