A dark beer for a dark year. Complex, Smooth & Dangerous. A potent and complex blend of malt and specialty belgian candi sugar that showcases dark fruit tones combined with hints of sweet spice. Coppery brown hue with a light tan from Deep caramel notes with golden raisins, plum, and touches of vanilla and honey. Rich mouth feel leads you to an enjoyable alcohol heat and a sippable dry finish. This beer will warm you during a cold evening as we finish off a challenging year.

Deep brownish copper body and some modest foam. Smells of nice biscuit with soft yeast behind it. Tastes of sweet caramel with soft biscuit notes. Lingering sweetness, overbearing sugar. Not bad, drinkable, but brings nothing new to the table.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark amber colour, a bit dull, but it's clean; the medium sized head doesn't have long retention. In the nose, some malt, light perfume, anise. Full bodied, sweet, with quite good malt flavour, candi sugar, touch of caramel, some biscuity malts for good measure, and very light impression of that feared anise (or bubblegum); the alcohol is evident, and rightly so. Bold and balanced.
Pretty good, for a North American attempt.
