33 cl. bottle @ home, gift from Suus. Black with a very dark beige head. Ketjap manis aroma with some hops, ginger and coffee. Sweet, light peppery taste with a dry licorice finish. Thin body. Strange but interesting beer.

Pitch black, tall frothy tan head, dissipates quickly to a tin layer, light lacing. Aroma roasted malts, coffee, soy sauce, laurel, cinnamon, licorice. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, coffee, liquorice, bit soy sauce, umami, peppery. Sweetbitter aftertaste, spicy notes, soy sauce, cocoa powder, medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. A pity about the thin mouthfeel otherwise an interesting spicy brew, actually very nice.

Draught @ UBF shared with Caesar and ShivanDragon. Opaque pitch black color, small light brown colored head. Smell and taste malts, roasted malts, don't get any peppers (fortunately), malt bitter. Thinnish body, decent carbonation. Meh.

Bottle at home. Pours deep dark opaque brown, near black with thin medium tan head. Sweet roasted malts, chocolate, charcoal, black seaweed, soy sauce, ink and a hint of roasted peppers. Over medium sweet with even more bitterness, quite some meaty, chewy, seaweedy umami notes, when warmed up a little sour woody notes come through as well. Medium body and soft carbonation. Very dry and bitter, with just enough sweetness to keep it pleasant. A bit disappointed to read there's actual soy sauce in this beer as an additive, cause that's the most prominent aroma. Probably even the cheapest soy sauce the brewer could get, so I can drink expensive craft beer that tastes of cheap soy sauce. I really don't care for this kind of business. If I wanna down a bucket of Ketjap Manis I'll let you know! In the meantime I'm going to grab some other beer! We're at drainpour level, which means below 2.5 in my book. Can't finish this bottle.

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, BB 03-2019. Dark color, medium frothy head. Aroma of dark roast and coffee, some fruity pepper. Bit fruity and spicy pepper in taste as well, mocha, bit soy sauce indeed. Velvety texture. I like it. Much better compared to tap actually, lot more flavor.
