On tap at the Hop Kettle pub, Gloucester docks, March 2024. Near black in colour, with a creamy, beige, head. Dark fruit sweetness, some milk chocolate and coffee notes, creamy malts and a gentle finish with touch of roastiness. Good.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours almost black with a small cream head. There’s a good aroma here of blackcurrants, roast malts and traces of coffee. In the mouth it has a creamy texture with plenty of flavours. Mainly chocolate and milky coffee, but also some dark fruits and hints of biscuits. Finish is slightly more bitter, with accompanying fruitiness. A pretty decent milk stout.

Bottle from the brewery online shop. Appearance - deep brown to black with a generous beige head. Nose - chocolate and caramel wafer. Then chocolate ice cream dominates. Taste - creamy chocolate ice cream and wafer. Dusted with praline. Elements of milky coffee too. Palate - creamy texture and medium bodied. Sweet finish bit good linger and balanced. Overall - this is absolutely delicious and it's impressive considering the creamy chocolate comes from the malt and lactose only.

Half-pint, cask at Hop Inn. Shared with Finn. A beige bubbly head to a deep black body, spotty lacing on the glass. Mid-sweet chocolate nose. Chocolate flavours on a backbone of lactose. Hints pf dark berries to a malt-driven finish. Medium bodied. Pleasing. (Swindon 26.10.2019).
