The rapid evolutionary development of new and existing hop varieties is being fuelled by the dramatic growth in consumer demand for new and different flavoured beers worldwide. It is true that combinations of different hops can enable brewers to brew beer of almost any kind of fruit combination, as is the case with our latest modern craft ale development, Theakston Pink Grapefruit Ale. Pink Grapefruit, brewed using the new ‘Sussex’ hop is slightly sweeter and less sharp than it’s more famous yellow variety providing an excellent top note flavour and aroma to a light, refreshing cask ale.

Wethersoon Autumn Beer Festival 2017. Cask @ White Hart, Todmorden. Golden-amber with a small frothy head. It has subtle grapefruit, but it is appealing with a small lingering citrus.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Commercial rooms, Bristol 11/10/2017. Golden in colour, with a slight, white, head. Sharp lemon and grapefruit notes, cereal malts and a dryish finish. Tasted a bit synthetic.

Cask handpull at The Penderels Oak JDW London. Clear pale gold colour lasting white head. Artificial almost soap washing up liquid pink grapefruit flavour. That is truly revolting. Couldn't finish a half pint. Yuck.

On cask at the Booking Office. Appearance - golden with no head. I think in truth that the gie was getting the girl was getting the hang of pulling pints and she thought she'd make sure I got as much beer as possible Nose - pink grapefruit and not much else. Taste - pink grapefruit simply. Palate - light bodied and tangy throughout. Overall - not that bad though other reviewers seem to hate it. It works at breakfast time that's for sure. I like pink grapefruit.

Third of a pint in my local Wetherspoon pub on 19th Oct 2017. Very pale body, wispy white covering. Citrusy and fairly bland, didn't like it at all. I even allowed the wife to have some. Scored kindly.

Cask at the Booking Office. Pours clear yellow gold with a thin white head. Aromas of fairy liquid. Taste is soapy, some grapefruit. This is pretty grim.
