Draught @ the brewpub
Aroma is sweet with somewhat artifical chocolate essences, milk chocolate, some lactic acid and berries. Flavour has chocolate essences, milk chocolate, some coffee, fruity notes and berries. Sweetish, fruity finish. The typical contaminated feeling for Koulu beers is present also in this one – but it makes actually a nice twist.

Looking at those older ratings I get a feeling that the recipe of this might have been completely different then. At least the appearance does not match. The ABV matches, however.

(Draught at St. Urho’s on 2008-02-16) Almost black. Weak nose. Sweetness, hop bitterness and some roasted malts in taste. Not so bad but becomes dull quite quickly.

Draught
Brown, almost opaque. Beautiful steady and creamy expresso head. Flowery hoppy nose. Crisp carbonated medium-bodied mouthfeel. Flavor has Goldings hops and it finishes to chocolaty aftertaste. Some sweet tones too. Very refreshing porter.
