Bottle thanks to Ashton McCobb. Pours very dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate and light herbs. Taste is sweet, toffee and chocolate, some herbal notes again. Sweet finish.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - deep almost black with a lovely fawn head. Nose - chocolate and herbal. Caramel too. Taste - creamy chocolate and herbs again. Roots and herbs. Palate - creamy and close to medium bodied with a balanced finish and a decent linger. Overall - good if a bit quirky.

500ml bottle from Ship in a Bottle. Near-black coloured body. Fawn-coloured head reduced to a patchy surface. Fragile lacing to the glass. Roasted, almost burnt, dark malty nose, hints of dark chocolate. The taste profile contains roasted malts, anise and ash (moss bog, perhaps) followed by a bitter ending of dark fruits. Quite well bodied. Pleasing stout (relaxing at my hotel room in Liverpool, 08.04.2013).
