Bottle. Pours cloudy dark brown with a medium tan creamy head that dissipates slowly with great lacing. Aroma is hoppy, resin, floral, caramel. Flavor is about the same, lightly sweet, light bitter. Medium body, somewhat creamy. Decent but nothing special. Unfortunately, although the owner told me they just came in, this has an 09\30/12 bottling date. Guess i need a fresh one.

Location: .5 L bottle from Buy Rite, 1/13/13

Aroma: The nose has lots of grapefruit hops, with some other citrus, pine, and caramel notes too
Appearance: Pours a dark amber-brown color with a thich, frothy, lasting beige head and sticky lace
Flavor: The taste is plenty hoppy, with lots of pine and grapefruit like the nose, there's some citrusy sweetness, caramel and bready malt notes, and it ends with a fresh, juciy, and rather hoppy bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, it is smooth, creamy, and extremely drinkable, with a dry, silky finish
Overall Impression: This is a heck of a beer. What is there to say about Zoe except that this one has just about everything I'm looking for in a beer. If there is a better Amber out there I can't name it. Maine is quickly moving up my list of best breweries, the quality and hop profile in their beers is spot on.

It poured a very dark red with some light brown edges. A small white head appeared for less than a minute. The lacing was light and stuck to the pint glass for a good minute then gently slid down the sides of the glass. The smell was the hops and caramel, some pine and citrus enter in the background. The taste was sweet and bitter between the hops and caramel with some spiciness. The palate was well carbonated with a slightly creaminess coating the mouth and still had a dry finish. Overall, this was impressive.

Strong grapefuit peel nose, pine needles as well. Clear brown, thick tan head, good lacing. Dreied leaves ever-so briefly on the front of the palate, then a rush of pine needle and ash. Moss and soil subtle but there too. This is an IDA, not an amber. Too hoppy, ABV is too high, and it is too dark.

Half liter bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a hazy bronze color with about 2/3 glass of a foamy tan head.Good head retention. Aroma of toasted caramel malts, stone fruits and a mild hoppiness. The taste is herbal hops, toasted caramel hops and a faint fruitiness. Medium bodied, well balanced. Nice beer.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep amber color ale with a large dirty white head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of intense hops is quite interesting with nice floral undertones. Taste is a great mix between intense hops presence with limited bitter notes and some really good citrus and earthy hops notes. Malt backbone is quite solid and not too sweet to cut through the hops profile. Body is full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Solid offering with great dry-hopping execution.

Bottle @ Steve’s house, courtesy of lukaduke. Thanks! Dark orangish brown appearance with a light brown head. Toasty caramel malty, cracker, mild cracker, herbal, a bit resiny hoppy aroma. Toasty toffee, bitter, herbal, a touch woody, spicy hoppy flavor. Very tasty beer.

An amber, a style I’m usually not fond of, but this stuff is nice. Huge hop nose. Big toast and nutty malts ending with huge hop presence. This is what an amber should be. Awesome.
