Rich in flavor with aromas and flavors of coffee, chocolate, and a little toffee-nutty character (don’t worry, no nuts were harmed or used in the making of this beer!). The roasted dryness flavor is a result of brown and dark roasted Munich malts being used in the fermenting process.

Bottle @ home. Red-brown color, red hue coming through. Medium sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, brown malts, caramel sweetness. Taste malts, brown malts, caramel. Oddly enough I get distant notes of bourbon, a slight tart note, slightly bitter and a very light diattn hint of chocolate. A bit thin. Hmm not a fan.

Clear deep red brown colour, small frothy beige head, mostly lasting, light lacing. Aroma dark malts, coffee, caramel, black berries. Taste light heavy sweet and light bitter, malty, light toffee, light berries and cherries, bit tart. Aftertaste follows taste, light spicy notes, light to medium body, watery texture, average carbonation, beyond date but drinkable.

Bottle from Ales by Mail, drunk at home. Mid-brown, translucent with a a small tan head, most of which duly disappears. Lots of hazelnut, coffee and chocolate in the aroma. A bit of odd plastic scent as well. Tastes... hmmm. simultaneously sweet and sour with the sourness winning out. Not 100% sure it’s supposed to taste like this. Carbonation lifts the thin to medium body. Not much aftertaste but there’s a harsh lingering acidity. Odd and unbalanced.

Bottle at home. Hazy brown with small fizzy short lasting beige head. Looks a bit like unclear cola. There’s some light cola in the aroma as well, but more chocolate, blackberries, sour red berries, light dust and mineral. Light sweet and sour. Almost medium bodied with a bit dry and puckering feel. Probably infected, still not bad but also not very good.
