Bottle. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty coffee caramel chocolate aroma. Roasted malty caramel flavor. Has a roasted malty caramel finish with hints of chocolate finish.

Draft at the alley. Mariposa. Clear reddy mahogany brown coloured pour with a fading off white head. Aroma is nice earthy nutty malts, brown sugar, chocolate powder, pecan, cakey malts. Flavour is composed of nutty dry malts, choc powder, dry malts. Palate is medium light, semi sweet, frothy carbonation, little woody. Some ashy roast.

Bottle @ DØE. Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, wood, nuts, light chocolate. Flavor is light sweet, malt, caramel, wood, nuts, chocolate. Thin to medium body, soft carbonation, light sweet finish. 230116

Sample at the Tehachapi Beer & Wine Festival on 07/18/2015: Deep brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Patchy lacing. Aroma of roasted nuts, malt and coffee. Light to medium body with flavors of roast nuts, earthy malt and mild coffee. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

12 oz bottle purchased as a single at the Lodgepole general store in Sequoia National Park. The pour is brown with a small khaki head. The aroma is big not brown and roast. The taste is the nut brown and roast of the nose, clean and fresh flavors. The palate is medium bodied with a lingering mineral, some pine and the residual nut.

Pours a reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Roasty, coffee, nutty, earthy aroma. A bit flabby body. Cocoa power, brown sugar, toasted malty flavor. Alright.

On tap at Yosemite Lodge. I have to be careful not to overblow this review since I had mine after a long hike, and it was a most welcome beverage. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a medium off-white head and good lacing. Strong aroma of roasted malts, coffee, and a little chocolate. Taste mimics the aroma, with a creamy coffee mocha flavor. Slightly watery, but otherwise an extremely good offering.

Bottle. Pours with a deep, hazed, chestnut hued brown body. Near black. A small off-white head that is somewhat slow to fade. Aromas are nutty, sawdust, cola, brown sugar, hazelnut, really dry, brown malt (seems). Dry, roasty, leathery, tobacco. Flavors are roasty, leathery, nutty, chocolate, fudge. A bit of coffee. A bit of an odd, lactic twang. That said it is tasty. Really malty, brown sugar (yet dry). Brown malt? Overall its pretty tasty. Lighter carbonation. Dry for what it is, lighter bodied. Good and nutty, roasty with lasting duration of flavors.

on tap @775 Gastropub Reno-pours a tan head and dark brown color. Aroma is roasty, molasses, spice. Taste follows. Finish is drying.
