Letter of Marque is a full-bodied and warming barley wine. An English classic aged on extremely exclusive Rivesaltes wine barrels (French port) for 6 months. They are produced in almost the same way as port wine, where alcohol is added to stop fermentation. They then sunbathe in open air for two years in glass balloons two years before being matured in oak barrels for decades (up to 80 years !!!).

33 cl bottle @ home. Bottle #1723, batch #46201, bottled 08.12.2020, BBE 17.10.2030 Aroma has ripe fruits, sweet malt. A feeling of aged bw. Flavour has ripe fruits, sweet malt and mild liquor aromas. Also odd gluey and woody aromas. Finishes a bit harsh. Quite low on sweetness to be a port-barrell aged bw.

Bottle @ Bakgården. Pitch black body under a dense, medium sized beige head. Aroma of dark malt, licorice, dark chocolate, leather, dry fruit and warming alcohol. Taste is sweet, smooth dark malt, dry fruit, dark chocolate, coffee, hint of wood, nice bitterness, slightly vinous and warming alcohol. Fine body and long lasting aftertaste. Sure, a solid, tasty beer. Surprisingly easy drinkable considering the high ABV.
