The dark site of pleasure. Fine bitter, fresh and rich in taste. Thanks to dark superior malt that provides the amber colour and the elegant smoothness.

Flip-top 33cl bottle in Mommseneck (Haus of 100 Biers) on 17th Jan 2014. Dark amber to brown body, off white head that produced some impressive lacing. Malts rule the whole beer: mild, semi-sweet molasses give the brew a pleasant aroma and they also impart flavour into a body that was disappointingly thin. The bodies lack of depth shouldn’t come as a surprise though, most German Dunkel beers I’ve had have been weak in the body texture and almost watery. This is one of the better Dunkel beers I’ve had though, so don’t be put off by my complaint about the body depth.

Bottle from the Umeda Oktoberfest in 2012. Dark malty beer with a light carbonation that was fairly sweet. Not bad.

Flip-top bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours clear copper with a foamy off-white head. Aroma is malty and nobly spicy. Med + body. Flavor is medium malty with noble hop. If they’d used top fermenting yeast, I bet it would be "English". Nice drink.

330 ml bottle. Clear amber body with a moderate sized tan head. Weak in aroma, possible to detect much more than some malt. Flavor is sweet malt, hint of toast and traces of dry fruit with low bitterness. Medium body and moderate in aftertaste. Drinkable but not exiting at all.

33cl from Bon Voyage, Berlin. Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma of malt and caramel with hints of dark fruits, hops and some lightly roasty notes too. Medium body and average carbonation. Sweet and malty with a lightly hoppy and bitter finish. Quite well balanced, easy to drink and nice enough.

A copper amber dunkel with a thick creamy lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet nutty caramel with fruity notes, roasty, not bad. In mouth, a sweet roasted and nutty malt with grassy notes, German notes, OK at best. Bottle from Corte Ingles, Lisbon, BB 12-04-14. tasted Dec. 28 2012
