“Iku-Turso is everlasting - an imposing and powerful force of nature.”
Assertively yet gently hopped. Mightily roasty. Rich with velvety malts. An imposing Imperial Stout done Hiisi’s way.

Bottle at home thanks a lot to jappp! Very dark brown with beige bubbly head. Some coffee, roasted malts, brown sugar, licorice. It has that deep roast of plain roasted barley, with some caramel, toffee and sugary sweetness. The roast leaves a long lasting bitterness with light sour and earthy notes. Full bodied with soft carbonation and a bit dry finish. It’s definately on the roasted and licorice side of things, certainly not bad but the finish is a little rough.

Bottle from Alko around Vaasa, Finland. Pours black with a never ending beige head, silky and fine. Aroma is coffee and chocolate, liquorice, green pepper, metallic. Body is heavy, very bitter and quite sweet, with a strong lovely carbonation, making it almost acidic. Quite boozy, with bitter liquorice flavours, roasted and ashy. A bit too much ash for my taste. Long tar palate. Not bad, but not my cup of tea either.

330ml bottle shared by Finn. A filmy layer covering a ruby-black body. Clingy lacing. Roasted dark malty nose. Taste of dark bread, coffee beans, ash, and dark chocolate backed by dark fruits. Roasted malty bitterness to a lingering finish. Fine bodied. Pleasant stout (Rating session with djoeye and Finn, Tromsø 11.02.2017).

Flaske 330ml fra Alko Kilpisjärvi. Delt med djoeye & Rune i heimen 11 Feb 17. Ultramørk amber. Filmskum. Aroma av røstet malt. Smaken litt kaffe - mest røstet malt. Blir tørr etter hvert. Alkoholen godt kamuflert.

Bottle [from Secret Santa Europe 2016 thanks to Rosenbergh] @ home. Opaque very dark brown to black color, full sized a bit foamy light brown head that lasts for quite a long time. Aroma is malts, some chocolate, perhaps a slight hint of hops in the distance. Taste malts, light hops, chocolate, nice mellow bitterness, malt bitter, hop bitter. Body is medium, carbonation is suitably soft. Very nice beer!
