On the long trip from Washington to Wellington, Lindsay wondered how easily she’d make new friends. And now it’s all gone so well that she’s decided to stay. This West Coast IPA — a one-off that proved such a crowd-pleaser that it’s decided to return, too — has a winning combination of stone fruit and citrus flavours thanks to a relatively new and underrated U.S. hop, Cashmere, all the way from Lindsay’s home state.

440ml can from Monster and Beer, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. Poured a hazy golden colour with a short-lived fizzy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, a little toffee caramel, light stone fruits. The flavour is moderate to light bitter and sweet, with a fresh, slightly smooth, fruity, light mineral, light citrus, light dry hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation. Surprisingly light all around given the ABV. Nice, but needs a few more bittering hops and I’m not entirely sure about the Cashmere either.
