Deep amber in colour, Old Winter Ale is a strong beer with a malt, cookie and liquorice aroma. The prominent Crystal malts add sweet, nutty flavours, balanced by floral notes from Target, Challenger and Northdown hops.

bottle from Bierzwerg. Clear golden brown, mid-sized head. Wonderful malt flavours with hints of dark honey and caramel and a really nice and aromatic hop bouquet make this beer very convincing. Anytime again.

Aroma has sweet mandarin and citrus peel. Flavour also has sweet, syrupy orangey notes and also some light spice and malt.

Bottle. It pours a clear, amber body and a small, off-white to beige head. It’s very malty on the nose, caramel, toffee, some dried fruits and a touch of roasted malts. Some hoppy notes. Toffee, dried fruits, roasted hints, a little bitterness and a hint of coffee in the flavor. Full body, quite dry. Bitter and toffee-ish finish. Well, I’m not impressed. 121124

Bottle @ home thx to benzai. Amber to ruby colour, decent beige head. Smells wood, oak, cognac, caramel, raisin, overripe apple. Tastes oak, sweet, raisins, malts. Quite a lot of taste for this not so strong beer. Thin to medium body, decent carbo.

50cl bottle shared with Dutchdrebus. Clear dark red color with a full sized off-white to lightly beige head that leaves good lacing and lasts for quite a while. Don’t get much aroma. Taste is nice though: malts, slightly butter, dark fruits, leaves, caramel and a slight touch of wood. Medium body, just about medium carbonation.
