Aroma is sweetish with toffee, some caramel and hints of hay. Flavour has lots of toffee, some caramel, English hops and hints of biscuits. Quite typical English Strong.

(500mL from LCBO) Pours a clear deep copper with an inch of fluffy white head. Aroma not too strong, dominated by sweet caramel malts with some fruit and a little nuttiness. Flavour is sweetish caramel and grain from malts, a some nutty notes, and a core of dry, bitter but not particularly flavourful hops. The finish is dry. Carbonation is soft and pleasant, but the beer is oily and not as rich or full-bodied as I hoped. Seems more like a dark bitter than a strong ale.

Bottle: Poured a light amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry caramelized malt notes is interesting. Taste is dominated by dry malt notes, maybe a bit too dry and almost astringent. Some fruity aromas are also easily noticeable though harder to detect when tasting this beer. Body is about average with good carbonation. Good but a bit too dry for my own taste.

The LCBO got a bunch of different Fuller’s this Christmas, and this is one of them. Best before date written on back label is 10 OCT 12. Pours a clean copper colour with a nice creamy beige, long-lasting head that creates a beautiful foamy and dirty lace. The aromas are quite grainy with cereal malts and hints of caramel undertones. The mouthfeel is smooth, silky and a bit creamy. The hop appears in the taste, adding a bit of bitterness the whole way, but well-balanced and creating a slightly dry finish. Caramel, biscuit and grain re-appear as the flavours. The spiciness comes from the hop in this one, and not much real spices are found here. An overall easy-drinking winter warmer for those who do not like the cinnamon ones.

Bottled 500ml. - from the London Pride store in Ljubljana. Clear amber coloured, medium sized off-white head, dry caramel nose. Slight roasted malt, caramel and mild spicy with moderate sweet and light hoppy finish. No winter character.

50cl bottle from Alko. Poured amber color with a nice lacing dirty white head. Aroma is malty, slightly nutty and caramel. Flavor is toffeeish, slightly roasted and bitter. Finish is bitter with caramel and nuts. Another solid brew from Fullers

500ml Bottle - Copper with a foamy head. Malt, caramel and marzipan feature in the aroma. Fruity and rather metallic taste with notes of dried fruit, caramel and nuts. Not bad, but the metallic notes spoil things a bit.

En klassiker från Englands största bryggeri. Man kan tycka att engelsk öl är lite enkelspårig men den har väldigt hög lägstanivå. Den här ölen är väl ett bra exempel på det. Kan man tänka sig att något av de största svenska bryggerierna skulle ha en uppställning som Fullers? Bärnstensfärgad med lågt offwhitefärgat skum. Jordigt blommig doft från northdown-, target- och challngerhumlen. Medelfyllig kropp som är lite nötig, karamell, torkad frukt (tänk engelsk julkaka) och med en markerad men väldigt avrundad beska som drar åt bitter choklad. Fin balans.
