Deep amber in colour, Old Winter Ale is a strong beer with a malt, cookie and liquorice aroma. The prominent Crystal malts add sweet, nutty flavours, balanced by floral notes from Target, Challenger and Northdown hops.

A rare beast from the brewery shop. A proper winter warmer for beer lovers outside the UK. No head and a lovely dark colour. The flavour and mouthfeel were all about the malt and the bitter hops. There was some sweetness lurking in the background, but it was perfectly integrated. This is a lovely beer and I have no idea why it is not available in the UK outside the brewery shop.

Cask at the Doric arch. A clear reddy copper coloured pour with a loose light tan head. Aroma is liquorice, treacle brown sugars, twiggy malts. Burnt sugar on the nose as well. Flavour is composed of semi sweet layered malts, black liquorice, unrefined sugars, light nutmeg spices as well. Palate is semi sweet, sticky moderate cask condition.. Ok.

Skled ubesværet og alt for raskt over drøvelen.
