26/8/2021. Cask at the 2021 East Anglian Beer Festival, Bury St Edmunds. Pours clear bright amber with a small bubbly/frothy white head. Aroma of orange, ripe tropical fruit, veg, biscuit, caramel, touch of herb and ashtray. Medium plus fruity sweetness, light bitterness, touch of berry tart. Moderate body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Looked really good but its looks were deceiving.

Cask at Purecraft, Birmingham. Well this was served too cold, and I didn’t have time to warm it up (and couldn’t anyway as I was sitting outside on a cold evening). Pours the classic “bitter brown” with a small white head. Not much of an aroma. In the mouth there are some sweet malts together with hints of hops, but generally this is a good example of everything that is wrong with some cask beers. Served too cold, insipid, bland and watery.
