Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 6/11/2019. Dark brown in colour, with reddish undertones and a slight, off-white, head. Sweetish malts, chocolate, a touch of dark berry fruit before a gentle finish. Ok.

Cask at The Waiting Room, Whitby. Pours clear dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of blackcurrant and liquorice, light cocoa. Taste brings some smoke. Light sweet finish.

Tried at the Three Horseshoes Waddington dark ruby colour with a tight tan head. Aroma roasted malty and lots of coffee. Taste light sweet. Medium body slightly thin.

Bottle from Millets Farm, Frilford, nr Abingdon. Pours an unusual but attractive deep ruby with a huge craggy beige head. However, there’s a rather annoying prickly fizz that doesn’t suit the style. The flavours make up for it though- blackcurrant up fronct, then a big dry smokiness balanced by chocolate and malt in the finish. A gorgeous beer- reminds me why milds are my favourite style. So much flavour in such a low ABV. If only they could reduce the fizz... obviously need to have it on cask.

500ml Bottle - Dark brown with red tinges and a foamy head. Malty and smoky aroma with notes of chocolate, liquorice and blackcurrant. Roasted, smoky and malty taste with liquorice, cocoa, coffee and dusted almonds.

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. Magohany with a loose beige head; earthy malt aroma; soft, with a nutty malt flavour; the finish has gentle, but assertive, English hops adding a pleasant bitterness.
