A robust and complex stout with the addition of hedgerow elderberries collected from around the brewery. The result is a morish warming beer reminiscent of burnt toast, jam and dark chocolate spread. Cask matured since October 2015.

Gravity cask at Cambridge Winter Ales Festival 2015. Black and opaque with a hint of purple. Liquorice, berries and charcoal in the aroma. Chalky bitter and slightly burnt coffee taste. Full but somewhat gritty palette. Not bad.

Cask-conditioned on gravity, at Swindon Beer Festival, 23/10/2014. Near black in colour and opaque. Aroma of chocolate, liquorice and toasted malts. Flavour had more plain chocolate, a hint of sweet dark berries and dryish finish. Enjoyable.
