Bottle poured and served at Black Bull Coniston - rich ruby body, thick white lacing head. Nose is heavy on the caramel and malts, dark toffee and cake fruits. Taste is malty and chewy. Very good.

50cl bottle from the Black Bull. Appearance - amber with a decent head which hangs around. Nose - cake mixture and a hint of spice. Taste - tangy dried orange and generally fruit cake. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a balanced dry finish. Overall - very enjoyable. Extra complexity seems to develop down the glass.

[Cask at the Black Bull Inn, Coniston] Toffee and malt with a hint of mint and a dry bitter finish. Nice at first, but grew less appealing the more I drank.
