Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford Pours a very dark reddish brown with a small beige head. Nose unremarkable, but just a little roast malts. In the mouth the immediate sensation is the4 creamy texture. Taste of chocolate and milky coffee comes later. Let down by the finish which is a bit like dishwater. Not their best.

Cask at the continental, Preston. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aromas of liquorice, chocolate. Taste is more of the same. Sweet finish, but light roastiness saves it.
