This black beer has been brewed to capture all the joys of stout without being too heavy. It owes its depth to the blend of roasted malts and a subtle use of hops.

Keg from Good Intent, Birmingham. Pours black lovely looking off white head. Looks like a Guinness. More aroma than the old Irish classic. Nice roast and coffee notes without being overly rich. Taste of roasted malts and coffee bitterness, some blackcurrant, semi sweetness to give some balance. Nice smooth body with low carbonation. Just a bit more hoppy fruitiness or spice would turn this into a great stout, but it's very good.

Keg at the Duke William, Stourbridge. Pours dark brown with a small head. Aroma is coffee, blackcurrant and cough syrup. Taste has a little roast to start and a bitter coffee finish.
