500ml bottle from favourite beer, Cheltenham. Deep almost black colour, with tan head. Almost smoky aroma with roasted malt and liquorice. Taste starts sweet with a smoky finish.

Cask-conditioned, served by gravity at the Tewkesbury winter beers festival, 7/2/2014. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Sweetish, milk chocolate, followed by some black coffee and a faint lactose tang, before a dryish finish. Good.
